China鈥檚 Tianjin University (TU) has presented University of Queensland (国产探花) Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter H酶j with its highest honorary title.
The TU Honorary Professorship Award is conferred to distinguished international experts who have reached outstanding academic achievements and will help TU enhance its academic excellence.
Professor H酶j is the first from 国产探花 to receive this award and joins only four other academics from Australia to be named a TU Honorary Professor.
President Li Jiajun of TU bestowed the title on Professor H酶j at a ceremony at Tianjin University, China last Friday.
Professor H酶j said he felt 鈥渆xtremely honoured鈥 to receive the award.
TU is a top-tier university in China and is the 国产探花 Confucius Institute鈥檚 Chinese university partner.
Dean of the School of Life Science at TU Professor Yu Xiaofang said Professor H酶j was recognised for his contributions as a researcher and his collaborative efforts with TU.
鈥淲e have given Professor Peter H酶j this Honorary Professorship Award for his outstanding contributions as a researcher in biochemistry and as a leader of some of the most important academic institutions in Australia, as well as his contributions to the collaboration in research between Tianjin University and Australia over many years,鈥 he said.
Only 69 academic experts have been presented a TU Honorary Professorship in the Award鈥檚 117-year history.
Honorary Professors meet with TU students and faculty members to share their insights on developments in their related field, and help strengthen the relationship between TU and their home institutions.
Tianjin University was established in 1895 as Peiyang University and was the first university in China. It is one of the National Key Universities directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education.
