Three University of Queensland academics have received the nation’s highest honour in humanities. 

Professor Chris Clarkson, Dr Geoffrey Gray and Associated Professor Patrick Jory have been elected Fellows of the . 

The trio are recognised by their peers for their contributions to cultural and societal understanding. 

2024 Fellows: 

  • - for research on early Aboriginal sites, particularly at the 65,000-year-old Madjedbebe site in the Northern Territory. 
  • - for transformative work on the history of Australian anthropology and its impact on Indigenous knowledge and racial thought.  
  • - for research on Thai intellectual history and modernity in South East Asia.  

The scholars are among 41 elected to the academy.
