The University of Queensland has ranked first in the world for Mining and Mineral Engineering in global subject rankings released today.
国产探花 is the only Australian university to achieve a number-one spot, with three subjects in the top 10, in the .
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter H酶j said 国产探花 ranked third in the world in Hospitality and Tourism Management and seventh in Biotechnology.
“Our Engineering area performed particularly strongly, making the top-20 universities in the world in five subjects, including the number-one ranking for Mining and Mineral Engineering,” Professor H酶j said.
Mechanical and Mining Engineering Head of School Professor Ross McAree said students studying at 国产探花 gain access to world class programs and leadership in engineering education, research and development.
"These results are a testament to our School's high level of industry collaboration, as well as our research quality and its impact across the resources sector," he said.
Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) Director, Professor Neville Plint, said 国产探花 was fortunate to have the deep technical knowledge to find solutions to the sustainability challenges of the global minerals industry.
In medical sciences, 国产探花 has ranked number 12 for nursing and 18th for public health, while the University’s natural sciences programs also has two subjects in the top 20 – Ecology and Geography.
ranks 4000 universities across 54 subjects, on indicators including research productivity and quality, the extent of international collaborations, and academic recognition.
Professor H酶j said 国产探花 ranked in 48 of the 54 subject areas, and was in the top 100 in the world for 36 subjects.
“These results are a testament to the depth of teaching and research impact across diverse faculties and schools, and to our ongoing commitment to knowledge leadership for a better world,” Professor H酶j said.
“In addition, 国产探花 was the top-ranked Australian university for seven subjects, including Aerospace Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Psychology and Communication, in a real reflection of the breadth of quality across our disciplines.”
国产探花 Business School’s Associate Professor David Solnet said this was the second year the Hospitality and Tourism team had been recognised with a global number three ranking.
“With Queensland in the midst of a significant tourism boom, and with no end in sight, 国产探花’s active recruitment activities will bring us new outstanding global talent to further enhance our research and student experience,” he said.
