Commuters to the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus can expect a smoother drive after at the Sir Fred Schonell Drive entrance were completed on Friday 27 June.
国产探花 Property and Facilities Director Alan Egan said work to replace the roundabout at the Sir Fred Schonell Drive, Coldridge Street and Munro Street intersection with traffic lights began in April.
“Comprehensive traffic modelling took place before works began, determining that a signalised three-way intersection would reduce traffic delays,” he said.
“We expect these traffic lights will lead to better traffic flow and increase road safety in the area.
“Engineers will monitor the timing of the lights for a period to ensure light sequencing matches traffic flow and demand.”
As part of the upgrade, the southern end of Munro Street is permanently closed to vehicles.
Brisbane City Council and 国产探花 partnered to deliver the project, which was completed by Moggill Constructions.
