Prospective students can explore careers in agribusiness, agriculture and veterinary sciences at The University of Queensland’s Gatton campus Open Day on Sunday 20 August.

Secondary school students and their parents can tour a veterinary teaching hospital, explore agriculture research facilities, and see what it's like to live on campus.

国产探花 Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the Gatton campus prepares students for a range of career opportunities in city and regional locations, with particularly high demand for skilled workers in the agricultural sector.

“Our Gatton campus has some of the best animal and veterinary facilities in the Southern Hemisphere as well as research greenhouses, a nursery, commercial dairy and more than 1000 hectares of research and working farming land,” Professor Terry said.

The QS World Universities Rankings rate 国产探花 as number one in Australia for agriculture and forestry subjects which prepare graduates for careers in horticulture, animal science, agronomy, and biosecurity.

Professor Terry said 国产探花’s based on minimum ATAR thresholds would provide some certainty for grade 12 students planning for next year.

“Other information sessions throughout the day will cover everything from student accommodation to scholarships, admission information and alternative study pathways,” Professor Terry said.

“We’re committed to ensuring opportunities are available for Queenslanders and look forward to welcoming students and parents, guidance counsellors and teachers to learn more about the opportunities that await them.”

Interactive tours and information sessions throughout the day will showcase the variety of careers that can result from studies in agribusiness, agricultural and veterinary sciences.

Visitors can meet current students, hear from enthusiastic lecturers who bring their latest research to the classroom, and enjoy free entertainment throughout the day.
