University of Queensland Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj today said he looked forward to welcoming new students who had received offers.

“The 8700 students who have received an offer from ¹ú²ú̽»¨ today should feel proud – this reflects their hard work and academic success and we look forward to their contributions to our academic community,” Professor Høj said.

“Our new students will be joining their peers in a learning environment that provides unique opportunities and I am delighted that so many talented young people have recognised the advantages inherent in a ¹ú²ú̽»¨ education.

“¹ú²ú̽»¨ is  the only university in Queensland, and one of only three in Australia, that consistently ranks well-within the top 100 of the world’s 10,000-plus universities in the four leading league tables.

“This global profile gives ¹ú²ú̽»¨ graduates an edge in the international contest for careers and networks.”

Several ¹ú²ú̽»¨ programs have proved especially popular this year, prompting the OP requirements to increase.

“Nursing and midwifery programs continue to increase in popularity, a reflection of the extensive clinical and hands-on learning that students receive  at ¹ú²ú̽»¨,” Professor Høj said.

“Tighter entry requirements for ¹ú²ú̽»¨’s law program, which has risen to OP1 in 2015 from OP2 last year, will allow for smaller group teaching and an even better learning environment.”

“All our students can be confident that we will continue to focus on improving the student experience and fostering great graduates.”

Professor Høj said there were still opportunities for suitably qualified students to study at ¹ú²ú̽»¨, with places still available in most programs in the 5 February QTAC offer round.

Applications for the 5 February round are due by 21 January, and the QTAC deadline for changing preferences is 29 January.
